First off i would like to say sorry for the lack of updates. I have been very busy with my own music, touring and just normal life bullshit. So much so that I haven't really had the time to dig into these boxes and pull out gems for you people!

and on another note I would just like to say this. I run this blog for one reason and one reason ONLY: to provide all the followers with dope music they can't find online. I am not here to hype releases up or rub it in people's faces. I am here to show you guys records you probably never heard of; records you can't just download and stuff that I just straight up love! i don't care if there is a YouTube video of any of these records. I don't care if you own it already. I don't care if I unearth it and you wanna e-mail asking me "why i did it. don't you know I am gonna have to pay a lot for it now IDIOT!" I don't give a fuck!! it's my blog, not yours. my music. i do what i want with it! There are people who haven't heard of these artists and DON'T own the record and I am here for them....

with that said, i looked at a collection TODAY! like seriously, 2 hours ago. after going through about 25 crates of beat up Lost Boyz and Zhane records i stumbled across this in the last crate. the ONLY minty record in the whole collection and the ONLY one i bought. I have known about this record for a minute but never saw a proper online rip of it! I've had an mp3 of one of the songs for a few minutes but was happy to finally snag a copy of this for your listening pleasure!

it's called Brethren. it's from the Bronx. Released in 1994 on Middle Finger Style Productions and contains 3 awesome cuts! The winner is "Holy Warriors" IMO! Check it out for yourself and be the judge! Hope everyone has been having a safe and happy spring! more to come soon......

Creator Breakbeat Lou was in attendance hosting with a slew of DJs. Evil Dee, Crazy DJ Bazarro, Wayne Ski, Boogie Blind, DJ Dummy, DJ Mocha, Grandwizard Theodore, Fat Fingaz. I have this weird fascination with shitty rappers. it stems from smoking a lot of weed when i was a little younger and simply not giving a shit. nowadays a lot of people don't give it up for Canadian indie rappers. there are tons of ill dudes in our neighbor to the North. my personal favorite would be Citizen Kane. i also like a lot of the Peanuts & Corn dudes. yea i know a little nerdy but fuck it, if i am into it i am into it (sup Mcenroe). but i think the reason for all the Canada hate stems from the fact that there are indeed (much like anywhere in the world) several shitty rappers living there.....

these guys take the fucking cake! i think the reason i like this EP because the rap itself is so shitty. it literally sounds like they borrowed their brothers 4 track recorder, made some beats that if blessed by some dope rapping would be pretty good, smoked 5 pounds of weed (possibly ate some acid) and sat down with the intent of one day taking over the world! but i guess they weren't aware of the fact there are super horrible!

but back on track. I LIKE IT!! why do i like something so shitty?these guys got balls to think they can rap well. if Lil Wayne was an indie rapper from Toronto in 1994 he would stand in front of the mic and talk nonsensical shit all day and claim how he is amazing! literally these guys hit record and just talked and while it rhymes it sounds like a 3rd grade freestyling. seriously don't believe me? listen! i have a funny feeling if i pop this one on eBay it will win the award for the most expensive piece of shit random rap record ever!!

today i have a very special treat for all of you! an EP that will undoubtedly be "THE ONE" to look for! as soon as i popped it on the turntable i knew i had something special! this right here is going to be the shit that people gonna add to their want lists left and right! i am good at selling and hyping rap up huh? this one is called the Fugitive Records Sampler 1 and is from NYC (1994/1995)!

this double vinyl EP contains about 9 dope songs from various artists on this defunct label that to my knowledge only saw one other release from an artist contained on this release (General Sekwan)! besides for like 2 real west coast sounding slow tracks this shit is a straight up banger! grimy and dark and awesome rap shit!! don't let the crappy label and shitty rap names such as The Nutbuster fool you!!

i will start this post off with a very much deserved Merry Christmas to me! not only was i able to get into a collection of an awesome guy who ran a hip hop record pool from 1991-94 but he was also gracious enough to let me buy whatever i wanted! let's just say this blog is about to be taken over with weird titles i have never seen before! that includes this one!!

what is there to say about N.O.O.N.? well they are from Coraopolis, PA. well that is where their PO Box is so i assume they are from Pittsburgh (they are like 5 miles from one another). i couldn't find any info on any of the group members! this record is from 1994 and it has that slow drawn out feel. shit one of the songs is 7 minutes! it might not be everyone's cup of tea but i can dig on it! i think these guys smoked mad weed. because shit i would NEVER record a 7 minute song!

the production is dope! a little monotonous at times. but just smoke a bong or something and listen to it as background music! it is pretty cool that way!

i am trying my hardest to uncover some dope unknown Jersey 12"s. it is hard though because even though i am literally 5 mins from the NJ border i don't know too many ways to find gems from the Garden State. i went through this collection over the winter time and pulled a lot of common titles for some friends and minted up on some Masta Ace 12"s like "Music Man" and shit. this was the only unknown record i pulled from there.

it is from 1998 and is called 3rd Degree. first time i listened to it i was kinda like ehhh ok but the more i pulled it out the more it grew on me. its' got this Premier type vibe on the beat and the rapping isn't all that bad! tell me what you think or just shut up haha!

so i been up on this store for a while that has about 100,000 records in its' basement. i am sure some people go there looking for samples and shit but i am almost POSITIVE that no one touches the rap. it is really off the beaten path and you wouldnt even know they have records. the only problem is that these 100,000 records aren't organized at all. i have looked through about 20,000 of the records and only found the one i am showcasing and the the DNA Disciples 12". i am quite sure i will find more but i just didnt have the brain power to finish it all on Saturday.

this 12" i grabbed is pretty interesting. it is by a dude named Rick De Ville. i had no prior knowledge to this 12" but seeing that it featured a production credit by Mo Funk (from the infamous I-Power record) i was like i have to try it out. it apparently came out before I-Power and is harder to find. not as dope i will admit. really a "trying for the radio" type record beat wise. but lyrically he is awesome. very non stop and can hold his own. even the radio friendly songs are catchy and kinda cool. if i heard this when it came out i would prefer it to all the other radio crap i might of been listening to haha.

the stand out track is definitely the Mo Funk produced "Like This". i do enjoy all the tracks though. "J.J" has some catchy singing that only an idiot like me would like!

so yesterday i am cruising around Manhattan. it was hot as hell out and i am trying not to stick to myself haha.i pass this spot i always see when i'm working. it's this little closet looking thing on the side of the street and its got records stacked on each side of it. an old Spanish man is working there and doesn't speak English but i pay him 2 bucks to watch my car hopped up on the curb while i dig so i dont get a ticket.

so i am knee deep in record stacks (mostly crappy but poppy Latin LPs) but there is a crazy amount of rap too. i am pulling some Fondle 'Em stuff, some older shit like JVC Force LPs and a few titles i thought would be cool that ended up being booty music haha. but i find this record called Trife God.

i am thinking ok is this Trife The God from Wu fame? is this from like 2001? doesn't say anything about Staten Island on it. there is no location on it. no date. but of course for a dollar i am gonna grab it and pop it on the table when i get home! WOW! talk about minimalist awesomeness!

just a classic break with a dropping bassline and some sick horns. and some awesome rapping over it! this song features this guy name Hecktik. any info about this would be more than appreciated. I researched it and cant find shit so i mean either it is common and no one gives a fuck or its one of those weird rarities that get passed up all the time

so peep it. i raid this collection and find this dope 12" from a group i never heard of. i Discoged it just to do some research and found out this crew Empty Pockets had 2 other releases but NONE dating back to the year on the 12" i snagged. plus it was a different label. Core Records (1993). further research turned up some more info. they were from New Mexico. haha that is about it! this 12" has 3 really dope songs on it. i know half of you are gonna be like "that shit is wack" because you don't like classic sounding stuff and you just get turned on by mid 90's random street shit! but i can get down with everything and this a gem you should DEFINITELY grab if you see. good luck!!

A lot of you are familiar with these guys from the Unsigned Artists EP. They went by War Click back then but actually released a few 12"s from 99 to 2000!! Although not early or even mid 90's they were a dope crew!!

I really don't know if these 12"s were released beyond the NYC area?? Someone correct me if i am wrong but even the copies i bought at the store were promos. The distribution must of been very poor!

The only time i ever heard em get shine was on the Halftime Show! I included 3 songs off the 2 12"s i own. I left one of the songs out cuz it is very sub par to me! "Winning Team" and "Fix Your Face" are the killer cuts! I have even seen what i think is an alternate version of the "Winning Team" release with a different song as the B-Side but i passed it up DERRRRR!!

Today we take a look at a really dope label based out of Newburgh, NY called Ghetto Groovz. I am sure most of you are familiar with the J Rock-Streetwize LP! Highly sought after LP that always shoots past the $100 mark when it is seen on eBay! But today, we are going to focus on the singles from this hard to find label!

As luck would have it I was introduced to J Rocks DJ Big Chris about 2 years ago. He let me raid his collection and as thought I was able to scoop multiple copies of everything the label had to offer! Minus the Lord Finesse produced Beverly singles that according to Paul Nice exist somewhere in some format!!

According to Paul Nice, and this was taken from Million Dollars Discogs entry, Jeff Murphy, the owner of Ghetto Groovz and upstate NY drug lord, was busted for you guessed it. DRUGS!! I am assuming this funded the label but he is now doing time in prison! What I included here are all the 12" version and remixes that were not on the Streetwize album (including the awesome as hell Premier one), including the first 12" to come out on GG by an artist named MCM!!Sorry for the skip on "I Get Rek". Story: I first heard this song at the end of 97 (although I didn't know what it was). Funk Flex played it right after "You Know My Steez" premiered on Hot 97. My boy had taped it on cassette from the radio and we were playing ball and skating and just playing this dub over and over and over again...

A couple years go by and it is obvious the tape doesn't exist anymore but in the back of my mind I know the hook by heart. So I start asking every one I know. Hitting up DJ's, producers, record nerds, shop owners etc. NO ONE KNOWS THIS SONG! I feel like a dick because I am reciting the hook to all these people! I searched for this unknown record for years. Fast forward to January 2008! I am doing my yearly search and I see a song called Robo_Raw Like That on someone's want list! Put the title in eBay and find a store in Europe that has a copy!

Package arrives and the wax is cracked in half! Luckily dude had a double! I get that 12" and pop it on the table and "BAM BACK TO 1997". This song was obviously not as dope as it was in 97. I mean it's like 10 years ago. It's like revisiting Jermaine Dupri "Money Aint A Thang" in some sort of weird way! But this track brings back so many memories! Lyrics are whatever. Beat is really dope to me! It's just awesome! This came out on what I believe is Dr. Dre's (of Ed Lover and Dre fame) label. It is called Desperate Men!! I have seen this one a few times since I bought it! I guess once you know what it is it becomes more obvious. Still though don't know why other heads haven't caught on yet!

The Woodzmen-War Of The World

Today I am uploading a track I really like. A lot of you will say it is hit or miss because well it really is. The A-Side is complete garbage so I opted out of that but what we got here is the B-side which is pretty cool. It is entitled "War Of The World" by the Woodzmen.

Many of you are familiar with their other 12" on Timbre. I haven't been able to scoop a copy of that up yet! Although I haven't seen this one any other time I am sure it is just as hard to grab a hold of. This track reminds me of something like W.A.R. but not as good. This was released on Phenom Records and as you can tell by the label scan there is no year! Something tells me this came later on in the 90's!!! ENJOY until later this week when I bless you with some Ghetto Groovz bangers!!!

I received so many requests to up this one in full and I still failed! I didn't rip the intro because it is a poor man's version of Gangstarr's "Aight Chill". So anyway, Nodyaheadtodis Vol. 1!!

One of the most sought after indie EPs. Why? I guess it has to be a toss up between Son A Bluntz "Don't Snooze" and "Moneycide" by Darcsyde because the rest of the EP fails to deliver the goods. I am not gonna front and say I don't enjoy the rest but it pales in comparison to a few choice cuts! "Rockabye" is dope and "Better With Time" is decent at best but "Dem Dead"? (How a pretty crappy reggae track with a Phil Collins hook made it past the guys at Discreet amazes me!

So yea. Nodyaheadtodis Vol. 1. 1996. Discreet Records. Indie gem. If you find it for cheap in a collection definitely grab it. But please don't pay $400 for it! Or do when I choose to sell it!

Oh and Merry Christmas! It is the least I can do since my car broke down on the way to a family party! Everyone have a safe and happy day!!

Here is proof that I am not here to just drop random and obscure gems on you! Doesn't mean you this is an easy 12" to pull but it is definitely dope and from a not-so obscure artist!

Today I'm gonna hit you with Pete Rocks' Mount Vernon proteges The YG'z. I remember when there were rumors circulating that these guys used to chase PR down and were super thug with him which then lead to their breakup....true or not it made for an awesome tale! And their relationship made for some awesome music!

I'm blessing you with what I think is their first 12". This one isn't on a label and contains only 2 songs. "Groove On" and "!st & 3rd"! Both "Groove On" mixes sound like Pete Rock and are very similar but one is an Eddie F. mix and the other is by PR. Although credits list the producer being Spunk Bigga.

The B-Side also contains "1st & 3rd", a more raw track that makes up for the lack there of on Side A (even if the singing is catchy and the beat is crunchy)!

So enjoy this little Pete Rock gem while I get ready to hit everyone with a Christmas treat that I noticed people are looking for in its' entirety! A little clue..."Don't Snooze" on my blog!!!

Today we take a look at a not so particularly hard-to-find piece but more or less just a dope single! I mean you aren't gonna just run into this one out and about (I mean you might) but you won't be spending tons of money tracking it down. I think I bought this one at a store in NYC for $6! It comes from a group out of the Bronx called Footprints on the Zestland label. This piece is fromm 94 and it contains two dope back to back cuts over some hard production!!

One of the MC's kind of sounds like a younger Redman and the other one like a weird K-Solo (I think K-Solo? I am having a brain fart and not able to put my finger on it today)

Anyways, enjoy this release and pick it up if you see it! You will be glad that you did!

Gunrunnerz-Life And Death EP

Let's take a trip to the South Bronx for the beginnings of the ever so popular late 90's NY gangster rap!! This one comes in the form of the Gunrunnerz (Lord Tariq, Peter Gunz & Triple X)!! A banging EP from 1995 on Shakedown Records!!

This is one of those releases where I was like "ehhhh its ok" but the more I listen to it the more I appreciate it...the beats are all super rough! It is just the rhymes that are sub-par in some parts! Way too many pre-track intros and interludes that go nowhere as well so I took the time to cut those out!!

However, if you'd like those little nooks and crannies I would suggest you save your money up! I sold my other copy of this on eBay and it fetched almost $300!! Best believe it was a very limited pressing!

I'd suggest looking for their other 12" single that came out in 93 although I am sure that one is just as difficult to get your mittens on too!!

I wasn't going to post tonight but considering my ex-girl decided to show up at the Christmas party I was going to and it is freezing and pouring rain....let's just say I had nothing better to do!!

Tonight's piece of wax comes from the land of Shaolin in the form of a dope 4-tracker....

This EP from 95 starts with a cut by the Rugged Assasinz feat. Red Rum the Body Catcha called "Prepare For Mortal Combat" and finishes with "Instrument of Death" by a dude named Gifted. All the beats are straight Wu-like bangers.....oh!!!I forgot to mention. In between the main cuts are small interlude type tracks that seem to be portions of the songs...where can I find these full cuts? Do they exist?

I am pretty sure I have seen an LP version of Shaolin Style or just a different EP with the same name?? If anyone knows what I am talking about or thinks I am bugging out please let me now. But for now ENJOY!!!

Ok!! It is that time of the week to bless everyone with a relatively unknown EP from the grand old year of 1995!! A Baltimore crew called Breakthru Entertainment gave us this banging 4-track release called "Breakin' Thru 4 Delf" on Eye Level Entertainment!!

A female MC named Kayoz sets off the A-Side with "MC's I Destroy" with the dope Craig Mack vocal loop for the hook followed by Nappy Head Guerilla and his track "Phat Enlightenment"!!

Side B features 2 tracks by one crew called the D.O.M.E.S.W.E.L.L.A.S. "Domeswellas" and the title cut "Breakin' Thru 4 Delf" which features a classic break and a sick jazzy horn loop!

After I ripped my copy before I traded it to my boy I noticed a light hairline crack which causes some cracks and pops and fuzz! If anyone out there has a copy please send to Serch4Beatz!!!

Pick this one up if you find it because I sure as hell never seen it before!!!

When I saw this release on Top Notch's blog i told myself I have to find it. Tracking it down was half the battle. The other half was a $200 to $400 price tag. Their other 12" single and insanely rare EP go for more but I figured anything Henchmen related had a huge sticker price. But as luck would have it, I found it in a collection and paid the equivalent of 50 cents for it.

This 12" is raw!! Production is dope as hell on both tracks! Lyrical content is as the A-Side would hint "rough and rugged". Either way, amazing 12" from this era if you can find it and afford it!

So when looking through this collection I keep pulling out multiple copies of Mixed Elements, Bredren and other Madd Mooves 12"s. I thought they had 3 releases until I came across this promo copy of a song called "Yah Yah". I guess this one never came out???

M.A.D.-Prison Or Streets

Welcome to my blog. As if there aren't enough indie and rare hip hop blogs out there (Top Notch, Alkuttraz etc..)??? This is just another page to give people some music that isn't readily available. I will try to bring you some stuff that you haven't heard before or that isn't out there in mp3 format in its' entirety!!

Let's start today with dropping a few pieces from a Bronx house call! Shout out to Hector for getting at me and letting me raid the collection. Nothing crazy but I was able to walk away with a few pieces I have been looking for and a few pieces I have NEVER seen!!

The first 12" is by a dude who goes by the name of M.A.D. The cut is called "Prison Or Streets". This came out in 96 and seems to maybe be from Jersey but then again I don't know. The drums knock and the loop is really dope although I am not really feeling the hook and its' use of quasi synths a'la G-Funkiness haha!! You be the judge!!!
